Community Green, a new program from the Center for Green Schools, will provide a free one-year membership to the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for community college students pursuing LEED Green Associate certification.

In addition to the free USGBC membership, there is also financial assistance available in select states to enable students to obtain LEED Green Associate certification by paying for exam study materials and credentialing fees.

In its initial year, the Community Green program is expected to assist more than 400 community college students that are seeking LEED Green Associate certification.

Said Rachel Gutter, Director of the Center for Green Schools at USGBC. “Through this program, we have a real opportunity to equip the next generation of students – regardless of their wealth, cultural background or experience – to become our future leaders. Through Community Green, we will give students the resources and skills they need to be pioneers of a sustainable workforce and the green economy.”
