Gala Verde 2015: Rick Fedrizzi to Give Keynote Address

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) South Florida Chapter announced that Rick Fedrizzi, CEO and Founding Chair of the U.S. Green Building Council, will serve as the keynote speaker for the nonprofit organization’s GalaVerde 2015, the Chapter’s annual LEEDership and Green Awards Program. The nonprofit organization also announced that The Spinnaker Group, one of USA’s premiere LEED and Sustainability Consulting, Energy Modeling and Building Commissioning firms, has secured the Title Sponsor position for the sixth annual GalaVerde. Fedrizzi is also CEO of the Green Business Certification Institute, and Chair of the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark. To learn more about Fedrizzi, see attached bio.

GalaVerde 2015 will recognize and honor those outstanding projects, inspirational businesses, dedicated individuals, and instrumental Chapter members who are LEEDing the way to a more sustainable built environment in our South Florida community. The Chapter’s annual awards ceremony draws upwards of 350 attendees. GalaVerde 2015 will be held on September 19, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Fedrizzi will highlight an evening of recognition and appreciation for the South Florida green-building community, during which the Chapter will recognize the year’s Outstanding Community LEEDer, Green Business, Green Municipality/Government, and Green Elected Official in South Florida, as well as achievement in 13 categories of LEED under the specificities of New Construction, Commercial Interiors, Core and Shell, Existing Buildings, Neighborhood Development, LEED for Retail, LEED for Schools, and LEED for Homes.

“We are extremely excited and honored that Rick Fedrizzi has agreed to be our event’s keynote speaker and that The Spinnaker Group has once again stepped up as our Title Sponsor,” stated Sandra Lee, President of the Chapter. “In addition to being a dynamic and inspirational speaker, Rick is a global leader in sustainable building and this transformative movement, and The Spinnaker Group has long been a frontrunner in green building in South Florida. These two huge commitments will make an already exciting evening for the green-building community’s social event of the year that much more exhilarating.”

For the third consecutive year, The Spinnaker Group has stepped up as the Title Sponsor. Rob Hink, LEED Fellow and Principal of The Spinnaker Group, noting the importance of GalaVerde and its awards for green building, stated “We are extremely proud to again be serving as the Title Sponsor for GalaVerde. Having been involved with the Chapter since its inception, this is one of the ways we try to give back to our community. The Spinnaker Group is keenly aware of the effect that the built environment has on our fragile South Florida ecosystem, and we’re proud to play a part in recognizing those individuals and companies that work to develop, design and build to sustain our communities and resources. This year is especially important to us as our good friend Rick Fedrizzi will be delivering the keynote speech, which I am sure will be inspiring for all in attendance.”
