Vu New River Achieves LEED Silver

New River Phase III, now known as Vu New River, is the last of three developments that has transformed the New River in Fort Lauderdale starting nearly 14 years ago.  Las Olas by the River, formerly known as New River Village Phase I was completed in 2001 by local Miami-based developer, American Land Ventures. Las Olas by the River, has 240 units and stands 9 stories tall. ALV went on to develop New River Village II, which is now called Nu River Landing. Completed in 2006, Nu River Landing has 409 total units and stands 25 stories tall. Finally and rounding out this prime piece of land is Vu New River. It is a LEED Silver Certified High-Rise Residential tower that stands 18 stories high with a total of 209 rental units. A bridge and elevator structure attaching to the existing structured parking garage contains the parking for the project.

Designed by Miami-based architectural power-house ADD Inc., now known as Stantec Architecture, the base of the building is dominated by 20’ of floor to ceiling glass and is highlighted by the “see through” lobby which incorporates Smoker Park into the SE 5th Avenue pedestrian experience. The rooftop amenity level features dynamic glass pavilions, highlighting the 360 degree views of New River and City while relating to the lobby below.

Sustainable features include the building site which gives tenants many different options in public transportation and is close to neighboring retail centers. It also features the use of low-emitting materials for all interior finishes, an efficient HVAC system, a building wide recycling program, and 35% of the building’s electricity comes from renewable energy provided by a Green-e Energy Produced.

The Spinnaker Group was proud to provide LEED Consulting, Building Commissioning and Energy Modeling services for this project.
