Spinnaker Group Garners First Annual Greater Miami Chamber Of Commerce Sustainable South Florida Award

Miami- On October 29, 2009 at the Sofitel Hotel the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce held their first annual Sustainable South Florida Awards Luncheon. The Sustainable South Florida Awards honors South Florida businesses that are making an impact in our community with the development of sustainable practices, products or services. Applicants must be located in South Florida and clearly demonstrate significant achievement in their selected category and a commitment to sustainable green practices. Award categories included; Green Visionary, Green Building Design and Construction, Green Business Innovation, Technology, Product or Service, Green Building Education and Training and Green Business Practices.

Besting twenty other nominees, the Weston, Florida based Spinnaker Group took the top honor in the Green Building Design and Construction category. The Spinnaker Group was recognized for their direct participation in 140 of the 400 green building projects registered with the United States Green Building Council in South Florida and their leadership in the development of green building legislation and ordinances. Rob Hink, LEED AP, Principal of the Spinnaker Group and past president of the United States Green Building Council South Florida Chapter stated “I am honored both personally and professionally to be acknowledged by such a prestigious organization for my commitment to the green building industry. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the other nominees and it is with deep appreciation that our firm accepts this award. ” Mr. Hink was also a finalist in the Green Building Visionary category that was
awarded to friend and colleague Mayor Manual A. Diaz.
