U.S. Green Building Council South Florida Chapter Announces Gala Verde Award Winners

Boca Raton, FL (September 17, 2012) — The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) South Florida Chapter has

announced winners of the nonprofit organization’s GalaVerde: The 2012 LEEDership and Green Awards

Program.

The Chapter’s fourth annual GalaVerde celebration recognized and honored those outstanding projects,

inspirational businesses, dedicated individuals, and instrumental Chapter members who are LEEDing the way to

a more sustainable built environment in our South Florida community. More than 350 attendees attended the

awards ceremony on September 15 at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale. Winners are as follows:

• Outstanding LEED for Commercial Interiors (CI) Project — Florida Atlantic University, College of

Engineering – Food Service Venue

• Outstanding LEED for Core and Shell (CS) Project — International Finance Bank

• Outstanding LEED for Existing Buildings (EB) Project — 701 Brickell

• Outstanding LEED for Homes – Multi-Family Project — East Village Apartments

• Outstanding LEED for Homes – Single Family Project — Hillcrest

• Outstanding LEED for Schools Project — Plumosa School of the Arts K-5 Building

• Outstanding LEED for New Construction (NC) — Public Project — Young at Art Museum and Broward

County Library

• Outstanding LEED NC — High-Rise Residential Project — Shepherd’s Court

• Outstanding LEED NC — Education Project — Palm Beach State College Technical Education Center

• Outstanding LEED NC — Private Project — TD Bank Net-Zero Energy Branch

• Outstanding LEED NC — Healthcare Project — Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital

• Outstanding LEED NC — Overall Project — Young at Art Museum and Broward County Library
